Washington State Magazine
Background
The magazine wanted a new management system for their articles that would allow for easier updating, tagging, and expandability. In addition to the article portion of the site, they wanted to do more to help document the university's rich history and research.
What we did
This project included three separate development projects. First, we created a wiki that is being used as an admin controlled, collaborative documentation of the university's history. Then we produced a blog that became an easy venue for the magazine to routinely produce research related commentary and elicit feedback. The final installment of the project was a new custom CMS that allowed the magazine the flexibility to extend and show related content.
The tools
We utilized MediaWiki and WordPress for the first two parts of the project. The article manager and front-end content was developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
